Hotels in Berlin: good to know
Which district should you stay in in Berlin?
For first-time visitors, Mitte is ideal because most sights are within walking distance. If you want nightlife and a scene atmosphere, Friedrichshain, Kreuzberg or Neukölln are great picks. Prenzlauer Berg and Charlottenburg are quieter and more family-friendly.
Is it expensive to stay in Berlin?
Compared to other European capitals, Berlin is moderate. Prices vary a lot by location, day of the week and events such as trade fairs. Booking slightly outside central Mitte with good U-Bahn and S-Bahn connections saves noticeably.
How far from the sights should the hotel be?
Berlin is large, but the transit network is dense. A central location in Mitte saves travel time but costs more. A hotel in an adjacent district with a good U-Bahn connection is often the best compromise between price and reach.
